Child Autism Assessments

Helping you better understand and support your child

We offer comprehensive autism assessments for children, designed to provide clarity, guidance, and tailored recommendations for families and educators. Our assessments are completed by experienced Psychologists using a respectful, neuro-affirming, and evidence-informed approach.

What’s Involved in a Child Autism Assessment?

Each assessment is tailored to suit your child’s needs, typically completed over several sessions. The process includes:

  • 90-minute Parent/Caregiver Interview – To explore developmental history and current concerns

  • Child Assessment Session – Including cognitive testing, social-communication observations, and sensory/functional profiling (tools may include ADOS-2, WISC-V, or SRS-2)

  • Parent and Teacher Questionnaires – To gather information across home and school contexts

  • Comprehensive Diagnostic Report – Including diagnosis (if applicable), a functional profile, and clear, individualised recommendations

  • Optional Feedback Session – A 30-minute discussion of findings, diagnosis, and next steps

Fee: $2300, inclusive of all sessions, analysis, report writing, and documentation.

Reports are finalised and released to clients within 6 weeks. Delays in responses from involved parties may impact this timeframe.

The full fee is required to have been paid prior to the release of the report.

Who Conducts and Signs the Report?

All assessments are conducted by registered Psychologists with training and experience in autism assessments. All reports are co-signed by a Clinical and Educational & Developmental Psychologist.

This dual-signature process ensures:

  • Your child’s report meets NDIS requirements for a ‘consensus team diagnosis’, particularly for children aged 6+ or for adults seeking access to the scheme.

  • Your child’s report is valid for Department of Education purposes in WA, which typically require assessment documentation to be endorsed by a ‘Lead Practitioner’ such as a Clinical Psychologist, Educational & Developmental Psychologist, Paediatrician, or Psychiatrist.

Sarah follows Autism CRC national best-practice guidelines and uses the current DSM-5-TR to inform diagnoses. Sarah is experienced in recognising a range of presentations, including those with high masking or internalised traits.

NDIS and Department of Education Requirements

Children under 6 may access early intervention supports via the NDIS Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) pathway without a formal diagnosis. However, a formal diagnosis is typically required for continued access as they age.

For children aged 9 and over, the NDIS requires a consensus diagnosis, which we provide through the co-signature of a qualified Clinical and Ed/Dev Psychologist.

WA Department of Education requirements for autism-related supports often include a diagnostic report endorsed by a recognised Lead Practitioner — our co-signed reports meet this standard.

We strongly encourage families to check with their referring professionals, school, or NDIS contact to ensure our assessment meets their specific requirements, particularly if it will be used for funding or educational planning.

Do I Need a Referral?

You don’t need a referral to book with us. However, if you’re hoping to claim a Medicare rebate, you will need a valid referral from prior to assessment. These rebates may cover a portion of the cost.

Supportive, Clear, and Collaborative

We know that the decision to seek an autism assessment can feel overwhelming. Sarah is here to walk you through the process in a warm, supportive, and informative way to help you understand your child’s unique strengths and needs.

Adult Autism Assessments

Clarity, self-understanding, and support

We offer comprehensive autism assessments for adults, designed to provide insight, formal diagnosis (if appropriate), and tailored recommendations to support your mental health, relationships, career, and daily life. Many adults seek assessment after recognising longstanding differences in how they experience the world — often following years of feeling “different,” misunderstood, or misdiagnosed.

Our approach is respectful, neuro-affirming, and focused on helping you better understand yourself.

Why Do Adults Seek an Autism Assessment?

  • You may have always felt different and want to understand why

  • You may have been previously misdiagnosed or underdiagnosed

  • You might be exploring your identity and self-understanding

  • You could be seeking accommodations at work or study

  • You may want to access support through NDIS, workplace assistance, or mental health services

Whatever your reason, we aim to make the process respectful, validating, and empowering.

What’s Involved in an Adult Autism Assessment?

Our adult assessments are collaborative and personalised. The process typically includes:

  • Clinical Interview – Exploring developmental history, strengths, challenges, and lived experience

  • Autism-specific assessment – Using structured tools such as the ADOS-2

  • Third-party questionnaires – To gather information across home and work settings.

  • Comprehensive written report – Including diagnostic formulation (if relevant), functional profile, and detailed recommendations

  • Optional Feedback Session – A 30-minute session to discuss the findings, implications, and practical supports

Cost: $2300, inclusive of all sessions, questionnaires, scoring, analysis, and report writing.

Reports are finalised and released to clients within 6 weeks. Delays in responses from involved parties may impact this timeframe.

The full fee is required to have been paid prior to the release of the report.

Who Conducts and Signs the Report?

All adult assessments are conducted by an experienced Psychologist trained in neurodevelopmental conditions, including presentations that may be internalised, masked, or misdiagnosed as anxiety, ADHD, or other conditions.

To ensure assessments meet a wide range of formal and informal support requirements, all adult autism reports are co-signed by a Clinical and Educational & Developmental Psychologist.

This provides:

  • A ‘consensus diagnosis’ as required by the NDIS for adult access to autism supports

  • A high standard of clinical rigour that may be required by medical professionals, workplaces, or educational institutions

  • Greater recognition and acceptance of the report by formal systems

NDIS and Medicare Information

The NDIS requires a consensus diagnosis from more than one health professional (e.g., Psychologist + Psychiatrist or GP) for adult applicants. Our co-signed reports meet this standard. We can also liaise with your GP or other providers where needed.

You do not need a referral to book an autism assessment with us.

If you would like to claim Medicare rebates are available for clients 18-25 years old.  If you would like to claim Medicare rebates you will need a referral from prior to assessment.

You Deserve to Understand Yourself

Many adults come to us after years of self-questioning or feeling like they don’t “fit the mould.” Whether you’re seeking answers, language for your experience, or formal documentation to support your goals, we’re here to help.
