 EMDR is a structured, evidence-based therapy used to help people process and recover from distressing or traumatic experiences. It works by using bilateral stimulation while the client briefly focuses on aspects of a difficult memory. This process supports the brain’s natural ability to reprocess information, reducing the emotional intensity of the memory and helping it become less distressing over time. EMDR does not require detailed verbal recounting of the trauma and focuses on helping the nervous system resolve unprocessed experiences.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT is designed for people with intense emotions and self-destructive behaviours. It combines acceptance and change strategies and teaches core skills in four areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Appointment Fees

$200 per 50-minute session

The current AAPi and APS National Schedule of Recommended Fees 2024-2025 has the standard 46 to 60-minute consultation fee at $311. At Sakinah Psychology, we strive to keep access to mental health care accessible to the community, as such our current fee is $200 for a 50-minute consultation.

Medicare

Sarah is able to provide psychological services under the Better Access Initiative with Medicare. You may be able to access rebates for your sessions using a valid Mental Health Care Plan and referral from your GP. Clients can access up to 10 rebated sessions under their MHCP, in a calendar year. Medicare rebates with a General Psychologist are currently $98.97 per session. This leaves a gap cost of $103.35 per session.

Private Health

Please seek eligibility from your private health insurer. Sarah is unable to process private health claims in the clinic, however she can provide you with an invoice that you can take to your private health insurer, to lodge an eligible claim.
